Evaluate drone operations with the right expertise

We deliver over 120 hours of training, together with a team of senior specialists in aviation law, drone technology and operations. The programme is spread across several months.

Our programme is specifically built for professionals who review, evaluate and challenge complex drone operational authorisation applications, including Operations Manuals, Concepts of Operations (ConOps), Specific Operations Risk Assessments (SORA), and Predefined Risk Assessments (PDRA).

Who can join?

  • New staff members at Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA)
  • Compliance officers at drone manufacturers and resellers
  • Regulatory experts in organisations dealing with drone technology integration
  • Safety and compliance officers in drone operator organisations, especially those that need to be LUC compliant
curriculum

What you learn

European drone regulation

  • In-depth understanding of Regulation (EU) 2019/947, AMC/GM guidance, EASA developments, and SORA 2.5.
  • Emerging trends and future regulations: SORA 2.5, U-space, and future regulatory and technological evolutions.

Drone systems and operational principles

  • Understand the core technology behind drones, from propulsion and communications to safety features like containment and redundancy.
  • Learn how technology relates to regulatory compliance through acceptable Means of Compliance (MoCs).

Drone technology and operational capabilities

  • Learn how drones really work. Get to know the core components, technologies, and architecture behind modern drones.
  • Understand safety features: Flight Termination Systems (FTS), Parachute Rescue Systems, Smart RTH, Remote ID, architecture redundancy and performance trade-offs.

Compliance documentation evaluation

  • Critically assess Operations Manuals, ConOps, and SORA/PDRA files for completeness and operational realism.
  • Identify risks and gaps in applications before approval and give constructive feedback.
  • Work with the applicant to improve their operations and documentation, with a proportional, risk-based approach.
practice oriented

Our approach

We train critical evaluators. The goal is to challenge and improve submitted applications, not to draft them from scratch.

01

Led by experts across all domains

  • Each module is taught by a senior expert in drone law, drone technology, or drone operations.
  • We are 100% vendor-neutral and maintain the highest standards of regulatory and operational integrity.
02

Gradual, applied learning model

  • We train critical evaluators. The goal is to challenge and improve submitted applications, not to draft them from scratch.
  • The training is spread across months, allowing you to grow expertise in parallel with your work.

Future Services: Scaling rope-access inspections with drones

Future Services, an expert in offshore rope-access inspections for wind turbines and high-voltage substations, recognised the need for innovation. With an eye on safety, cost reduction, and scalability, Future Services wanted to integrate drones into their inspection workflow – without replacing rope-access entirely. They turned to Drone Architect to design a practical, scalable and regulation-compliant solution that could quickly move from concept to operations. In this case study, we show how Drone Architect helped Future Services achieve scalable Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) drone inspections – both offshore and onshore.

Empowering BCAA: From standstill to pioneer

In late 2023, the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) was at a pivotal crossroads. While the drone department (UAS cell) had existed for some time, a full internal reshuffle meant that all existing staff were replaced. A completely new team was brought in, eager and motivated, but with no prior experience in drone legislation or operations. At that same moment, the department faced a growing backlog of operational authorisation applications, with some operators waiting up to a year for approval. Yet rather than maintain the status quo, the BCAA seized the moment to bring in a more progressive, pragmatic and transparent approach to the European drone regulation. That's where we came in.
